.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, etc. top-level domain names have a security feature, known as the Registrar Lock, to protect against accidental changes to the domain's nameservers. The Registrar Lock will also prevent the domain from being transferred to a different registrar.
To confirm if your domain is currently locked, you can use ICANN's WHOIS checker: https://lookup.icann.org/en/lookup
Under the Domain Status section, if the domain has one or more of the following statuses, the domain is locked:
How to disable the Registrar Lock
To unlock your domain, follow the steps below:
- Log in to your LetsHost Client Area.
- Click Domains > My Domains.
- Click the blue spanner icon to the right of the domain you wish to manage.
- Under the Manage tab on the left, click Registrar Lock.
If the Registrar Lock Status is "Enabled"
Click the red DISABLE REGISTRAR LOCK button to remove the lock.
If the Registrar Lock Status is "Disabled"
The registrar lock is currently disabled and the domain is ready for changes.
If required, click the ENABLE REGISTRAR LOCK button to lock the domain again.
Transferring your domain away from LetsHost
If you are unlocking the domain to complete a domain transfer away from LetsHost, you will also require an EPP code, also known as an Authorisation code, to provide to your new registrar.
